Hong Kong is known as a "food paradise", but according to its outstanding cuisine, the problem of food waste is far worse than other countries. About one-third of the garbage discarded every day in Hong Kong is food waste from household levels. Faced with crises such as the saturation of landfills and the destruction of the environment caused by large amounts of waste. Nearly two-thirds of poor families are in a food-deficient state. They often lack food or fail to afford high-nutrient foods, leading to unbalanced diets and health issues. These are issues that we have to think about. At the same time, food waste has a major impact on the environment, society and economy. For example, when climate action is still drastically increasing, if all the losses before the consumption link are taken into account, 8%-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions are related to unconsumed food.

Waste Less Feed Better support global development initiatives, strengthen the importance of implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, actively respond to climate change, promote environmental management and ecological sustainability; and, under the international community’s environmental education initiative, actively cultivate the next generation of the insights on the conservation of the environment. The first priority is to enable students to master the knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to ensure that they have the right attitude and are willing to take action.

'Waste Less Feed Better is the leading of personal, leadership and academic development programs for young people. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do. We are focusing on making this a turning point to recover better for people and the planet. It is designed to bring together people from leaders to citizens to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - also known as the Global Goals - as Covid-19 threatens to reverse decades of progress.'

Keyboard and Mouse

To be a Young Pioneer, what you DO is more important than what you SAY!

Words don't transform the world. It is one thing to say that you want to solve a social problem, but another thing to do something about it. However, we should not just blindly act in whatever way that we feel is most appropriate, we must act intentionally and with empathy. It's not always easy to decide or understand what actions are the right ones to take, especially when there are so many critical global challenges to choose from.

“As you very well know by now, we are nothing without your actions. When we start to take actions toward the Zero Hunger (SDG2), we can never expect perfection, we must only strive for progress. We will trip, stumble and fall along the way, but if we wait for the right to time to start to act, we will waste away all of the time remaining until 2030.”
